Today’s era is growing steadily into a global village which demands everyone to be computer literate. To ably address the various current global challenges, one must have a broad knowledge of the available Information & Communications & Technology (ICT).

This is because ICT has influenced all aspects of human life with the promise of new and improved ways of thinking, living and working. The education sector is no exception to this. There is a need to integrate ICT in the different aspects of managing any modern-day primary school. At St. Anthony Nursery & Primary Schools – Kajjansi, computers are utilized in the daily routine of the school activities through pupils’ data entry, storage and processing, research, managing school finances, examination assessment and generation of informative reports.

We have ensured that ICT training is integral to the education package provided to our children. This is mainly because putting ICT in any current primary school is to make tomorrow’s workforce very competitive in an increasingly high-tech environment. This is done through both practical and theoretical learning right from nursery school to primary seven class.

Instead of being “transmitters of knowledge”, the ICT teachers or instructors at St. Anthony Kajjansi play a facilitating role in an environment where the pupils using the various computers in the established computer lab become active learners. The school has an established computer lab in a very conducive environment with well-qualified instructors.

The lab also has internet facilities that enhance research for the pupils, teachers, and administrators. This further exposes the learners to additional resources like online encyclopedias, dictionaries, learning games, and online tutoring. The use of ICT in the various processes of any primary school is necessary to improve education access to the learners & teachers, the quality of learning and reduces the cost of education.
